Le Moulin De Provence

The French-styled bakery has been in the Ottawa community for over two decades. With its central location in the ByWard Market, the bakery has become a staple for many locals and tourists, including Barack Obama, who had a cookie named after him. Le Moulin de Provence serves a variety of freshly baked pastries, artisan bread, coffee, and bistro fare.
 

Strawberry Blonde Bakery
111 Richmond Road

This inclusive bakery offers options for every type of baked goods lover. The bakery’s mission is to create a place where people with alternative diets and food allergies can buy something delicious without worrying about cross-contamination. Everything made in the bakery is vegan, gluten-free, nut-free kosher, and tasty.

The Black Walnut Bakery
979 Cameron Street, Cumberland

Wife and husband, Myroslava Mykytyn and Isaac Fouchard opened The Black Walnut Bakery in 2015 after dreaming about opening their own café when they first met in 2010. Their fifteen-person team is deemed the bakery’s greatest strength, and their community values are strong. Everything at the bakery is made from scratch using natural ingredients.

Anabia Cupcakery Café
3570 Strandherd Drive, Barrhaven

Owner David De Almeida named his cupcakery café after his daughters Analidhia (Ana) and Bia. His shop is inspired by his parents, who emigrated from Portugal to Canada, and the sacrifices they made. The café follows a European philosophy by creating a living space where time stands still. Customers can enjoy uniquely made cupcakes and coffee from the world’s finest coffee beans.

Quelque Chose Pâtisserie

Three Ottawa locations: Westboro, ByWard Market, Vanier

Pull out your finest dresses and suits for afternoon tea at Quelque Chose Pâtisserie. The pastry shop specializes in French macaroons and offers over 20 flavours, all of which are gluten-free. Suzy Q Doughnuts
Three Ottawa locations: Hintonburg, St Laurent, and Bells Corners

Did someone say doughnuts? Suzy Q has mastered the traditional Finnish munkki (the Finnish version of a doughnut) and has become an Ottawa favourite for brightly coloured treats. The doughnut shop placed its roots in Hintonburg in 2012 when it opened inside a shack. Today, they own three locations across Ottawa and serve up a variety of dream-like flavours to get your taste buds dancing.

Art Is In Bakery
250 City Centre Avenue, Unit 112

Inspired by the fine boulangeries of Pairs and the funky cafés of Brooklyn, Art Is In offers an immersive experience for those who enjoy exquisitely crafted bread, pastries, and café dishes. Owner and classically trained pastry chef Kevin Mathieson created the bakery with his wife, Stephanie, to nourish their shared passion for food. It was even featured on Food Network Canada’s, You Gotta Eat Here!

There is also a strict no-food or body shaming policy which allows for an inclusive environment where people can come to enjoy good food. Dessert choices rotate daily, and everything made is vegan-friendly.

Bread & Sons
195 Bank Street

Pizza, fine pastries, focaccia, pies, and bread. Is your mouth watering yet? If so, you should head over to Bread & Sons. Established in 2005 by Yoav D’Vaja and Keren Ribstein, the eatery is one of the first all-vegetarian ‘made from scratch’ food establishments in Ottawa. Over the years, Bread & Sons has grown its menu and expertise. After receiving training from coffee master Scott Rao, the bakery is now also known for its coffee.
