Live & Local is a free, community-centered music series celebrating the artists who live and create right here at home, with select Thursday evenings hosted by a different local musician bringing their own sound, collaborators, and creative vision to the stage. Kevin Muir & The Malcontents are a Chelsea, Quebec-based band blending folk, roots, and indie rock. Led by songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist Kevin Muir, the band brings the songs to life through Stu Gillis’s expressive piano arrangements and rich vocal harmonies, Tom Chamberlain’s melodic bass, and the dynamic drums and percussion of Don Pinkerton. From reflective ballads to upbeat, danceable anthems, their live performances are rich in thoughtful storytelling, memorable melodies, warmth, and musicianship.

Sunday, September 6 • THE GRIEVOUS ANGELS • 3:30 pm
The Grievous Angels have covered a lot of ground over their three decades – two Juno nominations and countless gigs played. They have just released their 10th album Revolution. It is a soundtrack of resistance in an age of uncertainty.
The Angels sound is built around the gritty songwriting of band leader Charlie Angus. His songs capture the tragic beauty of life in Canada’s northern blue collar outposts.
The Edmonton Journal once said that Angus sings “flatter than a dirt road in Saskatchewan.” But they meant it as a compliment. They added that “one day his songs will rank up there with Ian Tyson, Stan Rogers and Gordon Lighftoot.”
They have played picket lines, ducked bottles in biker bars and acted as the square dance band for a gathering of residential school survivors on the James Bay coast.

Friday, September 11 • LAZARETTES + RON HAWKINS • 8:00 pm
Lazarettes are a Toronto-based alternative rock outfit that blends sharp songwriting, soaring five-part vocal harmonies and driving rhythm. Renowned for their live performances and lyrics, the band released singles in the Spring of 2026 as a lead-up to their new album, following 2025’s Sweet Misery, produced by Ron Hawkins of the legendary Lowest of the Low.
The band includes five songwriters (Chris Tait, Bryce Thomas, Richard Peirce, Chris Monster and drummer Adam Warner, known for playing with artists like Jill Barber, Royal Wood, and Ron Sexsmith.
This spring, Canadian Beats says “Lazarettes continue to prove they are one of Canada’s most promising rising alt-rock acts, capable of balancing raw emotional depth with memorable hooks and compelling storytelling.” and Rrampt says Lazarettes have “Lazarettes’ Sweet Misery has serious Canadian rock swagger”
The new Lazarettes single Undertow, is a rallying cry for activation, capturing an alt-rock punk energy, urging audiences to join the battle against apathy in the face of overwhelming news cycles.

Anna Ludlow hails from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and has been rocking the Canadian Celtic and folk scene for the past 2 decades. Entertaining with her fiddle and vocals, she captivates audiences, giving a true kitchen party experience.
Having collaborated with some of Canada’s most renowned artists, this has led her to become the principal fiddler for the Juno-nominated, critically acclaimed production DRUM, and in 2018 she became the inaugural fiddle player for the hit and Tony Award-winning show ‘COME FROM AWAY’.
Outside of theatre work, Anna is influenced by her working-class Celtic ancestry and fuses the traditional Cape Breton music of the Scottish Gàidhealtachd with a modern percussive vibe.
With over eight multi-award nominations, multiple performances on The Marilyn Denis Show, and a feature on Bell Fibe TV featuring her original music, you won’t want to miss her perform.

Whether in a village hall or a festival field, their shows radiate connection and joy.
Winners of the Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase at Canada’s Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, they’re fast becoming one of the scene’s most talked-about acts. Their upcoming album Controlled Burn turns tradition sideways – storytelling with soul, and grooves that smoulder, spark, and occasionally catch fire.
