Future DJs and Hosts Wanted—CKCU Radio Camp for Kids
When you think “summer camp,” you might picture sweaty sports fields or lazy afternoons by the lake. Now imagine adding a microphone, a mixing board, and your very own live radio show to the mix.
For over 20 years, CKCU 93.1 FM — Ottawa’s original campus-based community radio station at Carleton University — has been offering kids the unique chance to explore the exciting world of radio. If your child is aged 10–14 and passionate about music, media, or storytelling, this is the camp for them.
CKCU Radio Camp is a fun, hands-on program that gives kids a behind-the-scenes look at how radio is made — from writing scripts and creating ads to recording interviews and broadcasting live.
Camp Details:
• Dates: Weekly sessions run Monday to Friday, starting July 7, 2025
• Cost: $325 + tax per camper
• Location: CKCU Studios at Carleton University
What Kids Will Do:
• Create a radio ad: Campers write scripts, record voiceovers, and mix in sound effects and music.
• Write & perform a radio play: Everyone helps create an original story, acts in it, and produces it with professional sound design.
• Interview a special guest: From prep to performance, campers learn the art of the interview and get behind the mic with a real guest.
• Host a LIVE radio show: On the final day, campers go on air with a 2-hour live show featuring their ads, interviews, radio plays, and music — broadcast across Ottawa and streamed worldwide at ckcufm.com.
This is more than just a camp — it’s a launchpad for creativity, confidence, and communication.
Spaces are limited, so register early to secure your spot. For more info and to sign up, visit: www.ckcufm.com/ckcu-summer-radio-camp/
