From its inception in 2004, the mission of Pellegrini Opera has been to make top quality operatic performances accessible to everyone in the nation’s capital.

Founded by internationally acclaimed soprano Maria Pellegrini, the local, non-profit organization is dedicated to bringing opera to those who would not normally have the opportunity to experience its breathtaking beauty. Pellegrini, a living legend in her own right, is nurturing the emerging talent bound for greatness in their own operatic careers. She sees Pellegrini Opera as a stepping-stone for the cast into a thriving career in the opera world.

Pellegrini has created an arena for emerging Canadian opera singers to practice their performing skills in major operatic roles before a live audience. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Vincent Thomas and Music Director D. Kai Ma, the audience can expect a sensational, top-quality production without breaking the bank.

Set in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1830’s, Puccini’s La Bohème is a classic. Touching on themes of enduring love and the anguish of love lost, this unforgettable tale is simply heart wrenching.
