Top 8 ways to stay fit and healthy

Personally, I feel that there are only a few things more important than keeping yourself fit and healthy. But here is the thing, people realize this a bit too late.

When we are young, we feel like we are immortal. But as we age, which we all will, eventually and approach our 30s and start to see real-life health problems, it is already too late to go back and reset.

Of course, while you are young, you want to earn money, have a social life and also travel - but you can do all this while staying fit and healthy. How? Let me tell you.

Below, I’ve compiled a list of 8 ways that can help you stay fit and healthy.

1.    Eating clean

Start with planning your diet beforehand. The fact that you know what you will be eating next helps you stay a lot more disciplined. Your meals should have a balance between all the macros.

A common problem while following a diet is the struggle to meet your body’s protein requirements. Yes, that’s right. Even if you aren’t lifting heavy weights, you need sufficient protein.

On the other hand, I know you still want to enjoy your social life, go out and party, and be able to eat all that there is. For that, try to eat clean while you are at home and give yourself the leisure during parties.

2.    Staying hydrated

Water is underrated. Extremely underrated. The fact that most people think that they are drinking sufficient water makes them vulnerable to drink less of it.

For a day, try and keep track of the amount of water you consume in a day. You might be surprised by how less you are consuming as compared to your daily requirement.

Make sure you consume at least 3 liters of water every day. It will not only keep your internal systems healthy but also keep your skin glowing.

3.    Good night’s sleep

For all the night owls out there, there is nothing better than a good night’s sleep. Trust me on this. Sleep is when your body heals and recovers. And if you are thinking that by not sleeping enough, you are doing good for your “career”, think again.

If you’re compensating your night’s sleep by sleeping in the afternoon, it is still not the best approach. Plus, all the caffeine you are putting in the system while attempting to chase deadlines is killing your body inside.

4.    Staying clean and hygienic

Although a big part of staying fit is about eating clean, you need to maintain daily cleanliness and hygiene as well. Treat your body like a sanctum. Staying clean boosts skin health as well.

Good hygiene also boosts motivation and has a lot of social benefits as well. You don’t have to do much - just keep your surroundings clean, keep a sanitizer handy, and keep washing your hands with soap and water at regular intervals.

5.    Training

You need to fit in a session of workout in your daily schedule even if it is something as short as 30 minutes.

If not seven days a week, for at least 3-4 days a week. Training is not just about hitting the gym every day. It can be a running session, yoga class, Pilates class, or whatever you love. You can even order gym equipment online and work out at home.

6.    Routine checkups

Most of us think we are invincible, but here is the thing, we are not. Getting in a routine checkup every once in a while, despite your age, is important. Most of the diseases are curable but only if they are caught in due time. It’s always better if you are able to detect issues in advance.

7.    Discipline

Whatever I said above will not work if not done consistently and for that, you need to be disciplined in your lifestyle.

A disciplined lifestyle is a key to a fit, healthy, and joyful life. Eat right, sleep right, and party the right way. Avoid alcohol and smoking as much as you can and you will be good to go.

8.    Enjoy

You only live once but if you do it right, once is enough. That is my belief. While I don’t want to impose my beliefs on you, there is no need to be harsh on yourself.

Go out, and live your life. This time is not going to come back. But yes, living your life does not imply that you will not follow a healthy schedule.

As I mentioned before, it is all about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Even if you fail to follow a few on the list, start with the rest. But start somewhere and gradually find your way up the ladder – you’ll be surprised to see the impact it creates on your fitness.
